On the afternoon of March 17, our Chairman Shi Yuanyuan was invited to attend the Shenzhen BioPark & Xingyzsj.neti lecture titled "New Drug Development Strategies Under the ICH Framework."

During the roundtable forum, Chairman Professor Shi Yuanyuan, Academician Zhang Dan (Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering), Chairman Meng Fanqiang of Hambrecht & Quist (Shanghai) Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., Chairman Liu Feng of Guangzhou Diqi Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., Li Tianquan (Co-founder and Vice President of Yaozhi.com), and Jin Feng (R&D Director of Guangdong Small Molecule New Drug Innovation Center and Deputy General Manager of Xinyue Biotech), among other experts, engaged in discussions on the theme "Product Strategies for Chinese Pharmaceutical Companies in the ICH Era," providing in-depth analysis of new drug R&D in the context of ICH.
The experts unanimously agreed that Chinese pharmaceutical companies need a global perspective and the ambition to expand overseas. Professor Shi Yuanyuan particularly noted that for emerging third-generation drugs such as cell and gene therapies, researchers need to maintain international exchanges even more, as the field is advancing rapidly with new technologies emerging constantly. He pointed out that among the six CAR-T products launched globally in 2022, the two CAR-T drugs based on retroviral vector technology (both from Gilead Sciences in the U.S.) achieved combined sales of USD 1.46 billion, while the four CAR-T products based on lentiviral vector technology (from Novartis, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Johnson & Johnson-Legend Biotech) achieved combined sales of USD 1.24 billion. Thanks to lower industrial production costs and higher production capacity, the use of retroviral vectors for developing cell therapy drugs has formed a new international trend. However, the domestic cell therapy industry is still relatively unfamiliar with this technology and needs to pay close attention to it.
