On the morning of April 24, the completion and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the viral vector CDMO platform expansion project of Guangdong Junhou Biomedical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Junhou Bio"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shenzhen Cell Valley, was grandly held. From the company's founding in April 2019 to the launch and official completion and commissioning of this plant expansion project, Junhou Bio has received care and strong support from leaders and industry figures in Zhongshan City, the Torch Development Zone, and the Health Base. Junhou Bio has once again reached a new milestone, marking another upgrade in the viral vector service capabilities of Shenzhen Cell Valley and Junhou Bio, adding new strength to the creation of a one-stop cell and gene therapy CRO/CDMO service platform.
More than 20 biopharmaceutical entrepreneurs, heads of industry service organizations, university experts, and investment institutions witnessed this important moment, including Lai Wensheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Zhongshan Torch Development Zone; Huang Shuyan, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Office of the Torch Development Zone and Deputy Director of the Minzhong Subdistrict Office; Xu Ting, Executive Deputy Director of the Organization and Personnel Office of the Torch Development Zone; Wan Hequn, General Manager of the Health Base Group; Yu Conghong, Deputy General Manager; Huang Xi, Academic Director of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University; Wang Jiannan, Chairman of Shenzhen Xinyang Investment Management Co., Ltd.; Shi Yuanyuan, Founder and Chairman of Junhou Bio; and Wang Jianxun, Co-founder and Chief Scientist.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Shi Yuanyuan, Chairman of Junhou Bio, expressed sincere gratitude to all leaders and individuals from all sectors who have provided strong support to Junhou Bio. He noted that in recent years, the biopharmaceutical industry has flourished, with cell and gene therapy being one of the hottest and most closely watched research fields, bringing new hope for various complex and difficult-to-treat diseases such as tumors, neurological diseases, and autoimmune diseases. Viral vector production is one of the most core segmented fields in the cell and gene therapy CDMO market and is also the key production step with the highest barriers and costs—precisely where Shenzhen Cell Valley and Junhou Bio excel. As the only enterprise in China currently capable of large-scale industrial production of GMP-grade retroviral vectors, this holds profound significance for filling the huge market gap in domestic cell and gene therapy, treating patients, and closing the "generation gap" with international standards.

Lai Wensheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of the Torch Development Zone, expressed warm congratulations on the completion of the expansion project and affirmed Junhou Bio's remarkable achievements since its founding. Secretary Lai stated that the Torch Development Zone is fully seizing the overlapping strategic opportunities of the "dual zones" and "three major platforms." With the imminent opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the integrated development of the eastern and western banks of the Pearl River Estuary is accelerating comprehensively. This will further enhance scientific research linkages and innovation resource connections with Shenzhen's biopharmaceutical industry, and will also generate a talent siphon effect. "Those with enduring property have enduring purpose; those with enduring purpose achieve enduring enterprises." He expressed hope that Junhou Bio would take the project's completion and commissioning as an opportunity to settle in and develop with peace of mind, accelerate construction, manage scientifically, and grow stronger and larger.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dr. Feng Yaru, Executive President of Junhou Bio, led the attendees on a tour of the expanded plant.

After the Junhou Bio expansion project is put into operation, it will join Shenzhen Cell Valley to establish a total of 7,000 square meters of B+A, C+A, and other GMP-compliant viral vector and cell product workshops and GLP laboratories. Zhongshan and Shenzhen will achieve interaction in the cell therapy industry, gradually realizing an effective full-industry-chain layout from vectors to cells to clinical applications, building a one-stop cell and gene therapy CRO/CDMO service platform. It will continue to cultivate high-end technical talent urgently needed in the industrial production field of cell and gene therapy for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the nation. Under national policy support and industrial cluster effects, Junhou Bio and Shenzhen Cell Valley will reach new heights, providing strong support for promoting the emerging biotechnology industry.
